The Salvation Army Siemon Family Youth & Community Center is an important program that serves a community with a severe need for after-school youth development services, especially during the crucial hours when school is out and parents are absent from home.
The 36,903 sq. ft. community center located on S. Central Avenue and 76th Place (near Florence Avenue) serves the local community through a multifaceted program that includes a family services component, a licensed daycare center, chapel and the youth center. The youth center offers tutoring in math, reading and writing; computer education, instruction in the arts (visual arts, dance); and sports, including basketball and soccer leagues. Additionally, the facility features a library, computer lab with 30 terminals, classrooms, gymnasium, fitness center, and an art studio.
